Meet Lawrie . . .

Lawrence Groening (he/they) is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, the LGBTQ+ Editors Association, and the Contemporary Romance Writers organization.

 

His history (as might be obvious from his website) is in cat care, where he became an expert at meeting the client (the cat) where it was. At the feet of his charges, he learned patience, compassion, common sense, and flexibility. (While cats don’t care much about grammar, they are sticklers about respecting authorial voice.)

In his free time, Lawrie enjoys making paintings of cats and writing stories. His education in writing came from reading too much as a child, and it developed due to a prolific and slightly terrifying career in fan fiction, most of which has been thankfully struck from the annals of the internet. He is currently writing a queer romance featuring two utterly clueless humans and a cat.

 

You can find Lawrie either sitting at his desk doing word stuff or working at the best pet store in the world in Toronto. He is currently owned by two cats, Achilles and Fili, whom he will talk about for hours given the least encouragement.

Lawrie is a careful, dedicated, and conscientious editor. He loves words almost as much as he loves cats, and there are few things more satisfying to him than feeling the text respond to a gentle hand. He would love to work with you, teasing the best from your project and softly encouraging the jagged points into retraction. Words, like cats, if treated just right, come out purring.
